John Parker founded Parker Coonawarra Estate in 1985. It is located at the southern end of Coonawarra. The estate vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot. As far as we are informed, this winery bottles mainly Cabernet Sauvignon based wines with some 5,000 cases produced annually. Today, this property is owned by The Rathbone Family Wine Group with Gordon Gebbie in charge, assisted by winemaker Peter Bissell and assisted by Doug and Peter Balnaves.

Sat12042008. 14.0%. 100% Merlot. Medium-bodied with cherry and berry richness, chewy tannins and a short finish. Dissipated within the hour. Drink between 2008 to 2011.

2005 Parker Estate Favorite Son ‘Wrattonbully’ Cabernet Merlot

Sat12042008. 15.0%. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend. Medium-bodied filled with black cherry notes and astringent tannins. Light to medium acidity with a short finish. Enjoyable now. Drink from 2008 to 2011.

2003 Parker Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Terra Rossa
Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
Sat12042008. 14.0%. Cassis, and perhaps pepper notes. Medium-bodied with dark and red fruit, apparent oak with some freshness but weak or little acidity. Short to medium finish. Drink between 2008 to 2011.

2001 Parker Coonawarra Estate Terra Rossa First Growth
Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
Sat12042008. 14.0%. A Medium to full-bodied wine with a tightly wound and thin palate which took some time so sober up. Pepper and black fruit with a tint of cedar but firm tannins. Straight forward fruit component without much complexity. Drink between 2012 to 2018.
