Il Conventino
Tuscany, Italy

Il Conventino is an organic wine estate overseeing some 20 hectares. It was founded in 1988 with a total production of some 8,000 plus cases in production. Today the estate is owned and managed by winemaker, Dott. Paolo Vagaggini. Assisting him in export areas that we met in Singapore in April 2008 is Alberto Brini, whom was generous with his time and pours.
The estate product offering and bottling is summarized into the following: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Rosso di Montepulciano, Il Cambio IGT, Rosso del Conventino, Rosato del Conventino, Bianco del Conventino, Duca Vino Spumante Brut, and a Vinsanto del Conventino.
II Conventino looks to the East and South Asian market for an importer(s). Around 70% of its wines are exported with US and Europe taking the majority, while making their way to the North Asian markets of Korea and Japan.

2006 Il Conventino Rosso di Montepulciano
Tuscany, Italy
F25042008. 13.0%. 85% Sangivoese, and 15% permitted local grape varietal. The mainstay of this light-bodied wine was its red currant aromas and easygoing character for your daily appreciation. Slight acidity with a simple finish. Enjoyable now. Drink from 2008 to 2009. ![]()

2003 Il Conventino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva
Tuscany, Italy
F25042008. 14.0%. The wine is made primarily from the Sangiovese grape with a total of 3 years in oak, with 6 months in bottle, before refining and release. I would have expected to taste alcohol and heat as evident in most wines born in this vintage. Dense dark plums. Medium-bodied, a massively proportioned wine with rich red fruit aromas, tightly wound acidity with silky tannins, flanked by extracted fruit and a hint of wood. Enjoyable now. Drink between 2008 to 2010. ![]()
