Petit Verdot is a very dark grape variety for red wine that has a thick skin. Petit Verdot used to be a more important variety than it is today.
There are only few areas where the grape can reach full ripening, because it is very late in ripening. Ideally the grape needs a long summer. If ripe the Petit Verdot gives a peppered, spicy, aromatic wine with a deep taste, tannin, color and alcohol.
