Asti or Asti Spumante is a DOCG white sparkling wine produced in the Asti district in Piedmont, Italy. Made from the Moscato Bianco grape, it is sweet and low in alcohol, and often enjoyed with dessert. It differentiates itself from the wine called Moscato d’Asti made in the same region from the same grape, cause of the vinification technique which makes it a Spumante.

The sparkling spumante effect is obtained through the tank-fermented manner and not in the metodo tradizionale (methode champenoise in France), this method is called metodo Martinotti.
