This 100 hectares estate is located in Erbusco in the east of the Lombardy wine-growing region in Italy. It was founded in 1968 by the well-known winemaker Maurizio Zanella. He studied at the University for Oenology in Bordeaux and at the Station Oenologique de Bourgogne in Beaune. Today he still manages this glowing estate, assisted by French oenologist Émile Peynaud (1912-2004), and André Dubois (Moët et Chandon fame).
Traditional winemaking persist here with manual harvesting, selection and presses. The production of white wines does not have any destemming process, the bunches are pressed as a whole, while selecting during the many working phases, different qualities of must. The production of red grapes goes under a destemming process and then they are pressed and the must is then transferred in steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation takes place.
The flagship is the DOCG sparkling wine known as “Anna Maria Clemente“, the base wine for which is produced in a manual wooden press. This white sparkling wine is produced in all the usual variants (Brut, Brut Vintage, Brut Dosage Zéro, Satèn) and also as a rosé. Other products include the DOC wines Terre di Franciacorta in red and white, with partial barrique maturation. Then there are still the IGT´s (country wines) made from French varieties, such as the barrel-fermented Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot blend “Maurizio Zanella” (signed by the owner) (read it below), the “Pinéro” from Pinot Noir, the barrel-fermented Chardonnay, as well as the “Elfo” made from mainly indigenous white varieties.
The winery annual production is some 55,000 cases of which 30% (or more) is exported to some 28 foreign countries.
The wines of Ca’ del Bosco is highly regarded by sparkling lovers who seek an alternative to traditional sparklers. They are priced attractively and is within reach to the average wine consumer. As with Asian wine retail markets, the wines of Ca’ del Bosco is represented by Culina in Singapore.

Herbaceous, fresh and white floral aromas. Light to medium-bodied, with firm acidity, green grass, and a short short finish. Drink from 2007+. ![]()

2000 Ca’ del Bosco Maurizio Zanella IGT

W05122007. 13.5%. 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 30% Merlot. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, aged in 100% new, small oak barrels for 15 months; 15 more months in bottle before released. Dark berries, sweetness and chocolate-like. Medium-bodied with softened oakiness, better balanced, smoother, supple with a short finish, upstaged by some rough tannins towards the edge coming from Bell Pepper aftertaste arising from Cabernet Franc as suggested. Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta Cuvee Prestige

W05122007. F16052008. Franciacorta is a DOCG classification for Sparkling wine from Brescia in Lombardy. 12.5%. Blend of 75% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Bianco 10%, and 5% Pinot Nero. 28 months maturation before release. Good citrus with a twist of lemon and pleasant bread which shined in the glass. Medium-bodied, it has good acidity balance, with a hint of saltiness, but flavorsome, fresh and extremely drinkable now. Good grippy finish. This Cuvee is an absolute delight, providing a truly memorable experience and great value as compared with French Champagne. Enjoyable now. Drink from 2008. ![]()
