La Braccesca (Antinori)
Montepulciano, in Tuscany
Italy

Marchesi Antinori purchased this 294 hectares Tenuta Braccesca estate in 1990. The estate is located a few kilometres from Montepulciano in south-east Tuscany, near the border with Umbria.

The estate sees some 151 hectares of vineyard planted on stony soils with Prugnolo Gentile (a local variety of Sangiovese) and Canaiolo Nero, as well as non-native varieties like Merlot and Syrah, . Wines made included Merlot, Syrah, Nobile di Montepulciano, and Rosso di Montepulciano with a production capacity of some 10,000 cases annually.

Antinori’s Montepulciano estate makes solid, dark and concentrated modern-style wines with considerable international appeal. The wines from this estate is well priced and remain affordable to the average wine consumer.

The first vintage Vino Nobile La Braccesca dates back to 1990. After de-stemming and crushing, the wines are fermented for 15 to 20 days at a temperature not exceeding 27-30°C. The wine is then racked and aged for 12 months in barrel, barriques before bottling and release.
