2005 Merryvale Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (USA, California, Napa Valley). 14.5%. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18 months in 32% new French oak. Fresh and generous, with black berry, licorice and a stroke of vanilla. Full-bodied and expressive, with soft and lush black cassis, further ripe and yet structured fruit flavors, tannins and a sweetness commonly associated with oak, but pleasant. Delicious on both palate and finishing. Good stuff. Drink between 2009 and 2014.
